Casey Decotis lives and breathes through his photographic work. From a colorful cityscape to a rusted old doorknob, his work captures all that he views as beautiful in this world.
"Everything has personality, even a metal bolt," explains Casey. "I mean, really, it's just a bolt. But depending on how you look at it, there can be life attached to it."
Born in upstate New York, Casey developed an eye for photography as a high school student. Shooting the imagery of his surroundings helped him develop an appreciation for objects and scenery that many would consider undesirable. This early development has lead him to seek out the views of the world that others are often walking right by without ever noticing.
He currently resides in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida where he not only finds a wealth of photographic subjects, but also has time to spend on his other loves, surfing and spinning records as a DJ.
All of Casey’s talents can be seen and heard when he is either exhibiting his photography at gallery near you, or when he is performing as a member of Kumpanee 10, a unique troupe of artists, musicians, DJs and photographers that have been traveling all over the state of Florida since the mid-90’s to help spread a little creativity throughout the region.
Keep an eye out for Casey DeCotis as his photography is sure to be showing up in art galleries worldwide.
A gallery opening featuring Casey's photography is set for Friday, March 9th at Imago Fine Art & Fine Wine gallery in the historic downtown Melbourne area.
